The Operational dashboard contains a complete overview of your fleet. In this dashboard, you can track your assets' operational status and location, view key telematics values and other important information, create corrective events (defect reports), manage restrictions and create maintenance interventions.
To access the operational dashboard, go to the Railnova platform, then head over to the "Railfleet" section and click the "Operational" link.
This is what the operational dashboard looks like:
Filters
On the operational dashboard, you're able to use filters to search for assets based on asset name, asset class, operational status, homologations (aptitudes), actions on the assets or the labels you or your Railnova admin set up in the administration panel.
The default values you can filter on are:
Asset and asset class: type the name of your asset or asset class, or scroll down the drop-down menu to select an asset or asset class. You can select one or more assets or asset classes, all selected items will be displayed below the filters.
Labels: search for assets based on the labels you or your administrator created in the admin menu. These categories could be "maintainer" or "ECM" to search for the assets maintained by one (or more) specific maintainer(s), "client", etc. You can select multiple labels at once.
Aptitudes: filter on assets with one or more specific homologations
Asset status: filter assets based on their operational status (operational, degraded or immobilised).
Tech status: filter assets based on their state (traction, power on, idle, parking or vehicle)
Action: filter assets based on the current actions on the assets. Show only the assets for which an intervention is planned or in progress, or show only the assets with open alerts.
Next to filtering your assets, you can also sort them. On the right-hand side of the operational dashboard you'll find a "Sort by" field with the following sorting options:
Asset name: the name of the asset
Asset class: the asset class
Next immobilization date
Tech status
Tech status duration
Operational status
Alert count: number of open alerts
Event count: number of preventive and corrective events
Intervention count: number of open interventions
Asset name, current location and technical status
Next to the asset name, you can see the asset's current location and technical status (idle, no GPS, parking, power on, traction and vehicle ) and the duration of this technical status.
If you see that the status is crossed out and greyed out, it means that it's not considered up-to-date at that specific moment. This could be due to poor reception, and the status will update again once the reception is good.
Note that status computation is impossible if the asset is equipped with an external GPS device that only provides GPS data. In this case, the status always shows 'Parking'.
If you see that the status is updated, even though the asset is not equipped with a Railster, it means that it is equipped with an external device that provides enough information to generate a state (the asset is on or off).
Aptitudes (Homologations)
Homologations, or "aptitudes", are a significant upgrade to the label system, specifically to help track where a train can or can't go (countries, specific lines, etc.). These homologations let you define an asset's limitations of areas or routes it is allowed (or not allowed) to traverse. These areas can be anything, such as countries or any other custom "target" you can define yourself, for example, a specific line or a region. etc. If you want to know about homologations, read the following article.
Labels and categories
If you created categories and labels in the administration panel and checked the option to show the category in the operational view, it will appear on the Operational dashboard for the relevant assets. If you've also selected the option "is editable on operational", you'll be able to change the label directly on the dashboard.
You can review (and if your user rights allow you to update) the complete list of labels on that specific asset by clicking on the "..."
Live data configuration and maintenance counters
You can see some key telematic values such as mileages, speed, coolant temperature, fuel level and battery voltage coming from the counters or live data configuration, which has been set up by your company administrator in the administration panel.
You can see where the information is coming from by clicking on the "..."
Telematics data comes directly from the Railster. If the value is displayed in green, it means it's recent. If it's grey, the value is older. For instance, it could be the case for engine hours if the asset is currently parked. You can mouse over each value to see its timestamp.
Counters are displayed in blue.
Restrictions
You can also verify if there are any current restrictions on your asset and add new restrictions from the "Locomotive dashboard".
Operational status
Next to the restrictions, you'll see the asset's operational status.
From here, you can view and manage the operational status of your assets, as described in the following article.
Alerts
Using the Railnova platform, you can receive maintenance notifications (alerts) for all kinds of maintenance events, such as when a new defect is reported or an intervention is created for an asset and show them in the Operational Dashboard by following the steps as described in the following article.
To view the alerts for an asset, you first search for an asset using the filters and open the details view by clicking on Alerts or using the arrow on the right-hand side of the asset bar. Click on the "Notifications" tab to see the open alerts for your asset and if you'd like, dismiss them.
Events and Interventions
Next to the alerts, you'll see the sections containing the number of open events and interventions for your assets.
From this page, you can also create new events and/ or interventions for an asset. If you'd like to learn how to plan and manage your maintenance events and interventions on the Railnova platform, follow the steps described in the following article.
