Managing alerts on the Operational Dashboard

Updated over a week ago

Using the Railnova platform, you can receive alerts for all kinds of maintenance events, such as when a new defect is reported or an intervention is created for an asset.

If you are a Railnova administrator, you can set up notification rules to enable users to receive alerts for maintenance events (interventions, corrective events, operational status, etc.).

If you do not have admin rights, please contact a Railnova administrator within your organisation. Your admin will create or change the desired notification rules for you.

You can choose to send these notifications via email only, but you can also show them on the operational dashboard. When you select this option upon creating the notification rule, the notifications will appear in the detailed view of your assets.

If you wish to show maintenance notifications in the operational dashboard, select "Is alert" below the name and description of the notification rule. (If you're not a Railnova admin, please contact your company administrator to do this for you.)

To view the maintenance notifications for an asset on the Operational Dashboard, search for the asset using the filters and open the details view by clicking directly on the "Alerts" button.

You will see all open and processed alerts for your asset under the "Notifications" tab.

Please note that telematic alerts have been migrated to the Rule engine alerts section. If you had one or more telematics alerts in the notification rules, you will still see them listed in the notification rules but as inactive and in read-only mode.

If you would like to create or modify telematics alerts, please check this article describing how to create rules in the Rule Engine.

The notification rules in Railfleet are now solely used for maintenance-related notifications (interventions, corrective events, operational status, etc.).

Dismissing a notification

To dismiss a notification on the Operational Dashboard, click on the blue "dismiss" link.

If you want to dismiss multiple notifications at the same time, tick the checkbox for each notification to dismiss, and then click on the "dismiss selected" button.

If you want to dismiss all notifications at once, click on the white check box at the top of the list to select all notifications. Then you can click the blue "dismiss selected" button at the top.

Note that only the last 15 open notifications are displayed and that you can only dismiss these. If you have more than 15 open notifications, you will need to process the ones that are displayed first before you can dismiss older notifications.

After dismissing a notification, its status becomes "processed", and the notification moves from the Open to the Processed section.

Please note: When you dismiss an alert, it will be dismissed for everyone who has access to the information about the asset in question.
