All telematics alerts have been migrated to the Rule Engine and can be modified there. If you had one or more telematics alerts in the notification rules, you will still see them listed in the notification rules but as inactive and in read-only mode.
If you would like to create or modify telematics alerts, please check this article that describes how to create rules in the Rule Engine.
The notification rules in Railfleet are now only for maintenance events (interventions, corrective events, operational status, etc.).
If you do not have admin rights, contact a Railnova administrator within your company. Your admin will create or change the desired notification rules for you.
Creating notification rules
To create a new notification rule for your company go to the administration page. Go to "Notification -> Notification rules" in the Railfleet admin section.
You'll see a list of all notification rules for your company, whether they are active or not.
Click on the green button "Add a notification rule" on the top right of your screen to create a new rule.
On the next page you’ll need to complete the following steps:
Choose an appropriate rule name
Choose if the notification should be sent as an email
Choose if the notification should be shown as an alert on the operational dashboard
Set the Event Type you want to monitor (ex: maintenance_intervention_start)
Select when the notification should be triggered (e.g. when the event starts and/or finishes)
Add yourself and/or others to the User whitelist
Event types
Here is a list of the most used event types for notifications:
Selecting users to notify
You can select email addresses and add them to the "Chosen user whitelist" to notify them every time a notification is sent.
You can also notify the target user and/or the origin user.
Target user:
Corrective: the user that opened the event
Interventions: the users that opened any event part of the intervention + the users in the contact list belonging to the company creating the intervention tagged with the “Assigned to” company of the intervention
Origin user: is the user making the action that triggers the notification
You may also send notifications to contact lists attached to labels. Simply select the relevant label(s), and if a contact list with email addresses is linked to it, these users will also receive the notification.
Selecting assets and/or asset classes
Then click on the "Filters" tab to add the locomotive(s) you want to monitor to the Asset whitelist.
If you want to monitor all your assets of a specific type, you can add that type to the "Chosen asset class whitelist" instead of adding every single asset to the "Chosen asset whitelist".
In the future, if an asset from that type is added or removed, you won't have to modify the rule manually, the asset class whitelist is automatically updated.
Customising the footer
If you've chosen to send the notification as an email, you’ll also be able to customise this email slightly: the alert information itself can’t be customised, but you can add custom information in the footer. This information could be company information, the reason why someone is receiving the alert, or instructions on how to act on the alert, all this is up to you! You can update the custom message at any time.
To add your custom footer, click on the "Customization" tab and enter your text in the language(s) you need.
Modifying notification rules
You can later extend this configuration to more locomotives and more users if desired.
Simply go to the notification rules overview in the admin menu and click on the rule you'd like to modify:
To modify who should receive the notification, select a person from the list on the left-hand side and click the arrow that points to the right to add the user to the whitelist. Or, select one from the right-hand side and click the arrow that points to the left to remove the user from the whitelist. This way the user will no longer receive the automatic notifications.
To modify the assets, go to the "Filters" tab, select an asset from the list on the left-hand side and click the arrow that points to the right to add the asset to the whitelist. Or, select one from the right-hand side and click the arrow that points to the left to remove the asset from the whitelist.
