Component management is a tool for creating and managing components and counters for your assets on the Railnova platform.
If you don't have access yet and are interested in this module, please contact our Sales team.
To access the "Component management" module, log in to the Railnova platform, then head to the "Railfleet" section and click the "Component management" link or access functionalities through the administration panel.
This is what the Component management page looks like:
Preparation in the admin menu
Before you and your colleagues can start using the Component management module, your company admin needs to complete the setup on the admin page as described in the following article.
When you select an asset in the dropdown list, but no components appear, and you see the message "No component found for this asset", it means that the head component hasn't been mounted on the asset yet.
In this case, head to the 'In inventory" tab, look up the head component and mount it on the asset as described in the following article.
If you can't find the component you are looking for, create it on the admin page as explained in this article or contact your company admin and ask him to create it for you.
Component Management
On the Component management page, there are two views that enable you to see
components currently mounted on an asset and
components stored in inventory.
You can switch between them by clicking on the respective tab. The active one is displayed in black.
The "Search" option allows you to search all existing components globally. You can search on the serial number, name, or component type.
In inventory
Under the "Inventory" tab, you can view all components that are located in the initialisation stock or in one of the other inventory locations created by your company administrator. If you want to learn how to create new inventory locations, read the "Inventories" section in the following article.
On asset
When switching to the tab "On asset", you'll get an overview of all head components (the locomotive in general) and their children components in a tree structure mounted on an asset.
If you see that the component is bordered by a "dash" line, as shown in the picture below, it means that you still need to assign a component to it.
In this case, you need to
choose a date for the assignment
assign a component to it from any of the inventories your company has created on the platform and
choose which component you want to assign to it and
make sure you click on the blue "assign a component" button in the bottom right corner of your screen
Please note that if you created a component structure with three levels or more, it is normal that you only see the first 2 levels and the third and further levels are not displayed as long as the parent components haven't been assigned yet.
The third level will appear as soon as you assigned the second level component and further levels will appear as soon as you assigned the superior level component.
How to move a component
You can modify the location of a component when mounted on an asset by swapping it or unmounting it from the asset and moving it back to the inventory or when in the inventory by moving it to another inventory location or mounting it on an asset.
Under the inventory tab, you can perform two actions:
you transfer the component from one inventory to another one (the component remains in one of the inventory locations, and the move is registered on the information page)
you mount the component on an asset (the component doesn't remain in the inventory but is moved to an asset location, the move is registered on the information page)
Transfer to other stock
What to do if you would like to change the location of your component from one inventory location to another one:
Choose the desired inventory location from the drop-down menu, then find the component in the left sidebar which you would like to transfer. Click on the component, which will then become dark blue.
If you want to transfer a component to another inventory location, click on the blue "Transfer to other stock" button in the upper right corner of your screen. Choose your desired inventory location from the dropdown list and then click on the blue "Transfer component" button.
A warning pop-up will ask you whether you're sure about the action. If you select no, the transfer won't take place. After clicking on yes, however, the component will be transferred to the new chosen location.
Mount component
What to do if you would like to change the location of your component from one inventory location to an asset and mount it on it:
Choose the desired inventory location from the drop-down menu, then find the component in the left sidebar which you would like to transfer. Click on the component, which will then become dark blue.
If you want to mount a component on an asset, click on the blue "Mount component" button in the upper right corner of your screen. Set a date, choose your desired asset from the dropdown list, and then click on the blue "Mount component" button.
Under the "on asset" tab, you can perform the following action:
swap or unmount component
If you would like to change the location of a component which is mounted on an asset, you can
move back the component currently mounted on the asset to an inventory location and
decide if you want to choose a replacement component by ticking either the yes or no checkbox
when choosing no, there won't be a new component mounted on the asset
when choosing yes, choose a new component from any of the listed inventory locations in the dropdown list, which will be mounted onto the asset
Information
You can access information about your component by choosing one mounted on an asset or stored in the inventory and by clicking on it on the left sidebar. The chosen component turns darker blue on the sidebar, as shown in the picture below.
On the information site of the components, you can view the location of the component:
when mounted on an asset, the asset is shown
when stored in the inventory, the inventory location is shown
Further, you can see
which and how many counters are assigned to this component
which and how many open and closed preventive maintenance operations were linked to the component and
how many moves the component had on which date and from, and to which location(s)
