Updated over a week ago

The GPS history map displays the route a specific asset has travelled during a specific period.

The GPS History module is directly available from the homepage under the section Railgenius.

Map

In order to see which route an asset has travelled, select the asset in the box at the top of the page. In the same box, select the date range, then click on the blue "Apply filters".

If you want to view the map only, you can hide or show the filter menu to your liking by using the buttons as shown in the picture below.

You can adjust the view by using the buttons in the upper right corner of the screen:

  • enlarge the map

  • reduce the map

  • fullscreen

  • change map view between "Railways by Railnova", "Google Road", and "Google Satellite"

Use the Path Distance tool (by clicking on the icon as shown in the picture below) to measure the horizontal and/or vertical distance along a polyline. Zoom out so you can see the area to measure. Click the starting point, and then click the subsequent points that make up the polyline. The distance between each two points appears on the line between the points. To complete the polyline, double-click. The total distance is displayed on a separate label.

To clear all current measurements, click on the |-> icon.

Browse GPS history

After you're finished with choosing the asset and setting the date range, the map will highlight the route the asset followed based on the GPS data available for the asset. In the "Browse GPS history" box, the average speed and distance travelled during the selected time period will be displayed.

At the bottom of the page, you can see when the asset was moving or standing still, and it shows you the speed of the asset in km/h.

To see the speed in the GPS history, you can hover over the blue line at the bottom with your mouse, and you'll see a small window on the map showing the GPS date and time as well as speed. When you move your mouse over the blue line, the small window will move along the path of the loco and will display the date, time and speed.

The upper timeline can show the grey selected time range like a magnifying glass for the speed graph. For this, please use your mouse and mark a section on the upper timeline by holding the left mouse button down.

A grey zone will appear on the lower timeline bordered by two blocks. You can adjust the marked section by moving the blocks freely on both ends and shortening or extending it. The upper timeline will be automatically adjusted based on the changes you apply to the lower timeline. You can also grab the grey zone with your mouse and move it along the timeline.
The grey zone will show the marked time period the locomotive travelled within the entire reviewed period and will be shown as a pink line along the route marked with black on the map.
