Unconfirmed Interventions in Maintenance Planning - January 2025

Updated over 3 months ago

We’re excited to introduce a new enhancement to Railfleet’s planning capabilities: Unconfirmed Interventions. This feature provides greater flexibility in managing maintenance schedules, helping you optimize planning while ensuring better coordination between operators, workshops, and other stakeholders.

What’s New?

Until now, interventions—workshop entries for planned corrective, preventive, or modification tasks—could only be scheduled with full confirmation. With this new feature, you can now:

  • Create interventions in an "unconfirmed" status, tentatively blocking time slots in the planning.

  • Reserve time for maintenance tasks before final confirmation from the workshop.

  • Ensure better alignment between planners and workshops, reducing scheduling conflicts and last-minute rescheduling.

Why It Matters

This enhancement allows planners to proactively secure the workshop availability without committing prematurely, giving more flexibility in planning while keeping track of potential upcoming interventions. It ensures a smoother workflow and minimizes disruption when finalizing maintenance schedules.

How to Use It

When creating a new intervention, you now have the option to mark it as unconfirmed. The intervention remains in the planning view but is visually differentiated, indicating it’s awaiting confirmation.

Once the workshop approves the date, the intervention can be confirmed seamlessly.

You can read how to create an unconfirmed intervention in the following article.
