We're introducing a set of new features to help you monitor and manage your Railster device fleet more effectively.
Upgraded Railster Dashboard
The dashboard now surfaces key information so you can inspect the state of your entire device fleet at a glance:
Last GPS position
Last communication with the server
Asset status: when a device is communicating, see whether the asset it's installed on is in traction, idle, parking, or towed
Devices to return: quickly identify devices that need to be returned to us (e.g. as part of an exchange)
Validation check status: the result of validation checks as of the device's last communication
All of these fields can now be filtered, so you can use the dashboard as part of your own operational processes to pinpoint exactly which device requires your attention.
New Device Page
Clicking on any Railster card from the dashboard now takes you to a new device page with more detailed information. Here's a quick tour of what you'll find.
Installation
Device configuration details: software deployment status, the asset it's installed on and that asset's status, last known position, and any software update in progress
Validation status: now reworked to update live so you always see the current state
Device Health
Key device indicators at a glance:
Active entries: the physical inputs currently connected on the device
SIM consumption
GPS quality
Battery level
Please note that this functionality is not available for Railster 1 devices.
Installation Monitoring
Every time a device's installation validation changes status, it's now logged as an event in the message type railster_assign_validation on the Telematics data page, which you can track over time.
This allows you to:
Review the full history of an installation, useful when investigating an issue
Export this data for your own reporting or to trigger internal processes
Set up rules to trigger automatic alerts whenever an installation's validity changes if you use the extended version of the Railgenius Rule Engine.
